AFF coming to Kinloss 23 March 2017

AFF coming to Kinloss to meet Army families

The Army Families Federation (AFF) has announced the location of their latest families’ roadshow as Kinloss in Scotland.

They’re encouraging families posted to Scotland to come along to the event on 23 March, 9.30am to 1pm, at The Hunters Bar in Kinloss Barracks, Moray, IV36 3UH.

Meet your local AFF team
The event will focus on local issues surrounding education, employment, housing, health and more. Families will be able to meet the AFF team, including AFF’s Housing, Education and Foreign & Commonwealth Specialists, and AFF Scotland Co-ordinator Zoe Teale.

Zoe said: We want to hear about life for families living in Scotland, whether in a city or an isolated locationI’ll be there to meet with families, as well as other key figures we feel can help families to overcome the challenges they may be facing.”

Here to help
Chain of command and other organisations will be attending to offer their support to families and help with any queries raised.

Families are encouraged to share their experiences prior to the event, by emailing their questions to scotland@aff.org.uk; AFF will do their best to make sure questions are answered on the day or as soon as possible after the roadshow. There will also be an opportunity to take part in or simply listen to AFF’s formal Q&A session and meet representatives from a number of external agencies and organisations.

Get involved
To find out more about AFF’s work in Scotland, or to submit a question to their expert panel to pose on your behalf, contact AFF’s Scotland Co-ordinator Zoe Teale at scotland@aff.org.uk

Entry requirements for the police force

Police applicants may all need university degrees.
A plan that requires all police applicants to have university degrees is likely to be trialed in 2017. Government policy recognises that policing is a complex job which needs university graduates and this is expected to be made a minimum requirement, in line with the majority of other professions. Servicemen and Servicewomen aiming for a professional second career in Civvy Street might make gaining a university degree their new year's resolution.
www.onlineuniversitymilipol.com gives military personnel, ex-Forces and their families the opportunity to study for a university management degree online.
Now, BA (Honours) in Business Management and a MBA (master’s degree) are being offered to all those who want to keep their job but still gain a university degree, at a cost that they can afford.
These degrees are from the award winning Anglia Ruskin University, which is in the top ten UK universities for distance learning (see www.distancelearningportal.com).
By using military experience and a 2-part qualification, our distinct system allows Servicemen and women to gain eligibility points, even when they do not have sufficient academic qualifications for a direct university application. The procedure has recently been adapted to reward military families, by crediting their unique experiences and extra responsibilities.
The better UK universities are well regarded by multi-national employers due to a combination of prestige, history, English language and world-leading research. We have a number of reports from studies on pay and employment success that support this fact and will gladly respond to any enquiry on ‘what can a management BA or MBA degree do for me?’
You can research both the university (www.anglia.ac.uk) and its online provider LSM (www.londonschoolofmarketing.com), who will run your study programme.
Alternatively, you could just contact us by email (info@onlineuniversitymilipol.com) or go to our website. Our brief is to manage your application at no cost to yourself but you will also benefit from our funding advice and support right through to your graduation.
